Kevin Costner Expresses Desire to Return to ‘Yellowstone’ for Final Season Amid Contract Talks

Actor Kevin Costner has expressed his eagerness to reprise his role as John Dutton for the final season of the hit Western drama series, “Yellowstone.”

In an interview discussing the upcoming sixth season, Costner, 69, revealed his interest in returning to the Dutton Ranch, stating, “I’d like to be able to do it, but we haven’t been able to.”

Costner, who plays the iconic character John Dutton, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity while acknowledging ongoing contract negotiations. He hinted at his vision for his character’s storyline, saying, “I’ve kind of had my own fantasy how it might be.”

However, Costner emphasized that the decision ultimately lies with creator Taylor Sheridan, stating, “That’s Taylor’s thing.”

Reports suggest that Costner’s contract includes a clause granting him input on the manner of his character’s exit from the series, ensuring a dignified departure.

Speculation about Costner’s return to “Yellowstone” arose after reports last year indicated a potential departure amid rumors of discord with Sheridan. However, recent reports suggest Costner’s intention to return, leveraging the show’s loyal fanbase.

While discussions about Costner’s involvement in the final season continue, the show’s future remains uncertain, with Paramount Network planning a sequel series. Negotiations with actor Matthew McConaughey for a leading role are ongoing, signaling a potential new direction for the franchise.

As “Yellowstone” prepares to conclude its run, fans eagerly anticipate the resolution of John Dutton’s story, hoping for a satisfying conclusion to the beloved series.
