Israel Threatens Direct Strikes on Iran Amid Escalating Tensions in Middle East

Israel’s foreign minister issued a stern warning today, asserting that Israel would retaliate directly against Iran if the Islamic Republic were to launch an attack against Israel – marking a significant escalation in tensions in the region.

In a statement released in both Hebrew and Farsi, Israel Katz declared on X: “If Iran attacks from its territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran.”

This strong and direct statement follows Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s reaffirmation earlier today of Iran’s intention to retaliate against Israel for a suspected IDF strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1, which resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, including two high-ranking generals.

Tehran swiftly blamed Israel for the strike and vowed retribution.

Khamenei also criticized Western nations, particularly the US and Britain, for supporting Israel in its conflicts with groups like Hamas in Gaza.

Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in the strike but has been preparing for potential retaliation
