Former Texas Defensive Star T’Vondre Sweat Arrested for DWI

Former Texas defensive standout T’Vondre Sweat found himself in legal trouble on Sunday afternoon, as he was arrested in Austin, Texas, and charged with driving while intoxicated, as reported by Billy Gates of KXAN.com.

Sweat, aged 22, was swiftly released on a $3,000 bond, as DWI in Texas is classified as a Class B misdemeanor.

The defensive powerhouse made significant strides in his collegiate career, earning accolades such as the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the prestigious Outland Trophy for best interior lineman during the 2023 season. His remarkable performance included two sacks, eight tackles for loss, and four pass deflections.

As anticipation mounted for the 2024 NFL draft, Sweat garnered attention from scouting departments, with the B/R NFL Scouting Department categorizing him as a “High-Level Backup/Potential Starter” and assigning him a third-round grade. He was ranked as the No. 67 overall player in the draft.

With his imposing stature standing at 6’4″ and 366 pounds, Sweat was projected to make a significant impact against the run at the professional level, owing to his exceptional strength and physicality. However, his recent legal entanglement raises questions about his immediate future and potential ramifications on his NFL aspirations.
